Thanks to the hard work and courage of our City Staff, especially our firefighters, on April 25 we were able to save 93% of the pier. The first 911 call was made at 3:02 PM and OFD was on scene by 3:07 PM. Water was being applied to the fire by 3:09 PM.
We are aiming to have 75% of the pier reopened within the next two weeks. As we move into debris removal and repair work there may still be days when the pier needs to be temporarily closed, but we realize how important the pier is to the community and we are excited to get people back on it in such a short time.
On May 1, the City Council ratified the declaration of a local emergency by the City Manager. This will aid us in seeking funding for both the response and repair of the pier and efforts are already underway.

Please join us for this important meeting on how to protect ourselves and improve our neighborhood. OPD along with Neighborhood Watch will present crime preventions strategies.
Also, Mainstreet has proposed expanding the Property & Business Improvement District to pay for important services to some of our neighborhood.

OCNA IS WORKING FOR YOU!
The Board is meeting regularly with city officials to keep our Seaside neighborhood safe and clean!
- The city is working to identify and paint red curbs on critical intersections to improve visibility for drivers and neighbors.
- We are currently working on a pre-Coast Hwy Redevelopment plan for traffic calming and cut through traffic Tremont, Ditmar, and Freeman streets.
- We successfully worked with the city to stop the unpermitted harboring of homeless reducing negative impacts and crimes.
- We continue to work with staff on pressing the NCTD project for more transparency and mitigate negative bus circulation impacts.

New Transit Center Concerns
OCNA Board has been working to make sure the Oceanside Transit Center (OTC) Redevelopment efforts are held to the highest development standards as one of our largest developments.
Of particular concern to the OCNA Board is moving the bus bays to the south lot, and creating an exit for southbound bus routes on Missouri Ave with inbound bus routes on Michigan Ave. Both routes are impacted by the Coast Hwy road diet.
OCNA concerns are for the safety and walkability of our neighbors and visitors, removing the limited street parking for our businesses and visitors, additional congested traffic, and pollution. For Info,

Parking Permits in Seaside!
To prepare for the approved housing downtown that doesn't have to have parking for residents, over 200 resident signatures were given to petition the City for parking permits to help ease parking for neighbors south of Seagaze Dr and north of Missouri St, and from Nevada to Freeman Sts.
